Tidal Echo Wetland

Tidal Echo Wetland is a five-day field route where Fang and K document a local ecology through observation, distance, and response.

Day 01 / 07.28

The First Tide-Light Beneath the Wing

Mirrorwing Tide HeronLow Risk

Fang spotted the juveniles first. She signaled, and we switched positions. Until we understood what we were seeing, I kept our pace slower than curiosity.

Mirrorwing Tide Heron Morning | Arrival and Trace
MORNINGFang found the juveniles beneath an adult's wing and signaled for us to switch positions. I followed her cue.
Mirrorwing Tide Heron Noon | Close Observation
NOONWe used the reflections from the wing plates to identify submerged navigation markers. The herons fed quietly in the distance.
Mirrorwing Tide Heron Evening | Withdrawal and Record
EVENINGAt dusk, the flock reflected the sunset and the inspection lamps. Fang and I stood side by side and recorded its migration direction.
「Until we understand, our steps must move more slowly than our curiosity. We recorded only the direction the flock revealed.」— K
Day 02 / 07.28

Crystal Antlers Above the Old Pump

Saltvein Antler DeerModerate

Fang read the vibration patterns in the ground. I called the wind direction. The herd looked back, alert, and we kept our distance.

Saltvein Antler Deer Morning | Arrival and Trace
MORNINGFang read the vibration patterns in the ground while I called the wind direction. The herd turned back, alert. We observed without approaching.
Saltvein Antler Deer Noon | Close Observation
NOONA Saltvein Antler Deer brought its crystal antlers into resonance with the old pump. Fang and I measured from opposite sides of the channel and compared the readings.
Saltvein Antler Deer Evening | Withdrawal and Record
EVENINGThe herd guided its fawns away from the flooded ground. We stepped aside and left the passage open.
「We did not drive the herd forward. We read the direction it gave us and yielded the path when it moved the fawns.」— K
Day 03 / 07.28

The Chorus Inside the Flooded Pipes

Sunken-Bell Frog ChorusLow Risk / Environmental High Risk

Fang extended the sensor. I held the safety line and watched the rusted pipe. The rhythm was biological; the danger came from what its resonance could loosen.

Sunken-Bell Frog Chorus Morning | Arrival and Trace
MORNINGFang extended a sensor to read the rhythm. I held the safety line and warned her about the rusted pipe's resonance.
Sunken-Bell Frog Chorus Noon | Close Observation
NOONWe stood back to back and compared the water's ripples with the pipe-wall frequency. Tadpoles glowed inside the pipe.
Sunken-Bell Frog Chorus Evening | Withdrawal and Record
EVENINGThe colony's chorus marked the rising tide. We sat above the waterline and waited for the water to recede.
「The chorus was not equipment noise. We took the reading and waited where the water could not reach us.」— K
Day 04 / 07.28

The Calf in the Maintenance Net

Tideshell MatronHigh Risk

A calf was caught in a maintenance net. We watched the mother's route first. Moving too soon would only turn a rescue into a threat.

Tideshell Matron Morning | Arrival and Trace
MORNINGWe found the calf caught in a maintenance net and watched the adult female's patrol route before approaching.
Tideshell Matron Noon | Close Observation
NOONFang released the clasp remotely. I stayed to the side and kept my posture nonthreatening.
Tideshell Matron Evening | Withdrawal and Record
EVENINGThe calf climbed back onto the adult female's shell. She remained for a moment, then left.
「The calf returned to the water on its mother's back. We did not need to come any closer.」— K
Day 05 / 07.28

The Passage Beneath the Crown

Sky-Tide CrownwhaleDivine

Low-frequency ripples reached us before the animal did. Fang watched the pattern on the water. I watched the old gate. Neither gave us a reason to fire.

Sky-Tide Crownwhale Morning | Arrival and Trace
MORNINGWe found the giant through low-frequency ripples on the water and observed it in silence from the side of an elevated structure.
Sky-Tide Crownwhale Noon | Close Observation
NOONFang entered a BCI synchronization while I started the ancient gate console by hand. We worked without forcing the animal closer.
Sky-Tide Crownwhale Evening | Withdrawal and Record
EVENINGThe giant crossed the sunset channel. Its returning echo steadied the wetland water system, and we stood together to watch it leave.
「I reopened the route. The Crownwhale did the rest.」— K
