They Refused the False Kuroshio
The soundscape at Kuroshio Pilot Ring thinned before the wrong pulse arrived. Three dolphin families held outside the corridor and sang. Field Observation
From the outer edge of Old Military Sonar Tower, we surfaced to Kuroshio Pilot Ring with city communications held at low power. Fang isolated the feedback band there, and we followed it back inside the tower so I could disconnect the array through its maintenance interface. We then returned to the ring and watched from Low-Frequency Passage Gate as the pod, the corridor's four other species, and the floating city moved through the repaired soundscape.
Morning · Kuroshio Pilot Ring
Three families held outside the corridor and sang separate parts of one low-frequency chorus. The returning sound drew several False Kuroshio routes across the same water. We kept communications at low power and did not call the pod inward. Its refusal was part of the evidence.
Noon · Old Military Sonar Tower
Fang used a non-invasive BCI to separate the natural harmonics from the military feedback. I followed the added band into the maintenance system, physically disconnected the array, and left only low-power city communications. We changed the machine, not the dolphins.
Evening · Low-Frequency Passage Gate
The three families sang again and redrew one safe Kuroshio route. Shrimp sensory setae lifted, algae bream turned with the current, reefbuilder-crab pores reopened, the eel left the overloaded reflection, and the floating city began changing anchors in sequence. The nursery belt remained outside its path.
Habitat Causality
The algae canopy, city shadow, deep anchor cables, artificial reefs, and drowned streets form a moving acoustic habitat beneath the Kuroshio floating cities. Each dolphin family carries a different part of a low-frequency chorus that maps the thermocline, anchor cables, and nursery-reef boundary. Feedback between city communications and the old military sonar array amplified those harmonics into overlapping false routes. The pod refused to guide because following those routes would have brought the drifting city into the nursery belt. Cutting the feedback and lowering communication power restored a soundscape that both the city and the habitat could use.
Species Behavior
Harmonic-Tide Pilot Dolphins are intelligent, non-aggressive navigators about four meters long. Three family groups sing layered parts of one chorus. They do not obey city commands and guide only when a route protects the pod, the nursery reef, and the shared ecological passage. During this encounter they remained calm outside the corridor, rejected every false route, and resumed guiding only after the human-made feedback ended.
