The moth never approaches Fang or K and shows no predatory behavior. It glides over the canopy, feeding on microalgae in dome condensation and airborne spores. Its wing veins do not accelerate when K shuts down the test loop; they slowly return to the moth's own rhythm before it passes through the atrium.

Habitat and Mechanism

The high canopy, dome-condensation layer, sealed condensation towers, exposure atriums, and retired photonic test corridors inside Diffraction Mycelium Reserve。The moth's layered translucent wing scales divide confused dome light into cyan, magenta, and gold veins that illuminate in a three-part morning-noon-dusk sequence. An obsolete exposure corridor keeps replaying a fixed test loop at night, interrupting that sequence and blocking the moth's migration through Seventh Diffraction Atrium. Once the loop stops, its passage redistributes light across the forest and resynchronizes the reserve's daily cycle.

FIELD BEHAVIOR

Behavior and Ecological Role

The moth never approaches Fang or K and shows no predatory behavior. It glides over the canopy, feeding on microalgae in dome condensation and airborne spores. Its wing veins do not accelerate when K shuts down the test loop; they slowly return to the moth's own rhythm before it passes through the atrium.

The Layerlight Canopy Moth is a calibrator, not an apex predator. Its three-part wing light synchronizes web rebuilding by Diffraction Spore Spiders, heat release by Veinlight Ear Hares, emergence by Crystal-Trench Burrowers, and rest by Prism-Crest Nursery Pheasants.

Form and Identification

  • An ivory and deep-indigo body with soft feathery antennae
  • Vast layered translucent wings covered in fine scales
  • Cyan, magenta, and gold diffraction veins that illuminate in sequence

FIELD ETHICS

Observation Rule

Fang and K do not pursue, lure, restrain, sample, or obstruct the moth. They remain outside its flight line and intervene only in the obsolete human equipment causing the disruption. Their record is made at a distance, and they take nothing from the animal or the forest.

Above Seventh Diffraction Atrium, the opening wings placed morning, noon, and dusk across the same forest. Fang read the three-part rhythm while K traced its repeated interruption to the old ground-based exposure sequence. The moth did not close the distance. The city's residual light was blocking its way home.
