The Calf in the Maintenance Net
A calf was caught in a maintenance net. We watched the mother's route first. Moving too soon would only turn a rescue into a threat.
Field Observation
We moved inward from the outer shallows toward the old tide station. Each stage was reachable on foot or by a short wetland-boat crossing.

We found the calf caught in a maintenance net and watched the adult female's patrol route before approaching.
Noon · Mineral-Shell Shallows
Fang released the clasp remotely. I stayed to the side and kept my posture nonthreatening.
Evening · Freshwater Shell Basin
The calf climbed back onto the adult female's shell. She remained for a moment, then left.
Habitat Causality
Warm, humid dome exhaust, seawater intrusion, pressure release from old tide gates, and submerged metal structures form a low-frequency resonant wetland. A faulty tide gate had cut across the herd's migration route, showing that the disturbance had reached the entire food web.
Species Behavior
Tideshell Matrons are large semiaquatic herbivores. Adult females carry freshwater in shell basins where calves rest. They charge only when a calf or a water basin is threatened.
